Your dog is an exchange student.

Your dog comes from a culture where its okay to eat his own poop or wear it as perfume. Its unfair and can even be dangerous to punish him for behaving in ways that are only natural for him. You wouldn't punish a human exchange student for eating with his hands if he's never been taught to use the silverware, right? Respect your dog for who (and what) he is, prevent him from making mistakes, and show him how to be successful in our human world.

I can't say enough wonderful things about Tess. She has a genuine respect and appreciation for all dogs. She is great to work with, and extremely professional in her approach. Both our dogs always look forward to their training sessions with her. A few months ago we learned  that our 18 month male Japanese Chin dog had lost his hearing. I interviewed several trainers before finding Tess. During the initial evaluation Tess had a wonderful rapport with both our dogs. She always displays extreme patience and kindness toward them.   During the past 6 months of training  Tess has helped my husband and me relearn how to communicate with our deaf dog through sign language. The result:  our deaf dog has become more calm and happier since we began his training.   He can now not only do all the basic commands, but also a few fun tricks as well. Recently Tess has  also began working with our very timid 9 year old Chihuahua. After only one session he has become more confident.  I would highly recommend employing her for training. Both my dogs totally enjoy being with her.

I learned alot through Tess because of her passion for animals and her understanding of them. I think Tess always wants to learn more so she can have the latest information when she is working with her clients. She perseveres and is always positive. I found a recommendation for Tess as I was researching some puppy problems we were having with the 2 pups we rescued.  Tess came to our home, worked around our schedule & was very flexible.  She is knowledgeable about a variety of behavior issues and was able to teach us how to be better pet parents.  She was available by text or email for any issues that popped up & has sent articles relating to specific problems we were having.  We highly recommend her for any dog issues.
